Club Chairman's Report
As chairman of The Pub Poker Club/Pub Poker League it is my pleasure to give a report on our first month end final, after only 10 games played we had a prize pool of £300, special thanks goes to Pete the landlord of the Gladiator who kindly donated a further £100 making a grand total of £400 for the prize pot.
A new method of seat selection was put into place which went well, this meant that all players were sat and ready to play just after the 4pm start time. With 36 players registered for the final and with 10,000 in chips and blinds starting at 30 minutes we were in for the usual array of monster hands, bad bluffs and even worse bad beats. At the time of the food break where we dined for a minimal cost for a hot meal we had lost 2 tables.
As this was a special event prizes were given for the last 9 players with the bubble going to Bob Nutman who took home a prize of a Sunday lunch for two at the Gladiator.
The final table sat down with a chip count of:
| Name |
Chip Count |
| Dom Frasca |
28,000 |
| Richard Sheldon |
94,000 |
| Emma Masson |
54,000 |
| James Edge |
104,000 |
| Sarah Hawkings |
17,000 |
| Martyn Simmons |
8,000 |
| Mavis Chalmers |
22,000 |
| Simon Ingus |
38,000 |
Out in 8th place was Martyn Simmons showing KQ off suit
Out In 7th place was Sarah Hawkings when short stacked she lost with her 8 3 off suit
Out In 6th place Mavis Chalmers K 2 off suit failed to hit.
Out In 5th place Don Frasca pushed with 10 5 off suit and was called by Richard Sheldon’s Pocket Kings.
Out In 4th place James Edge from Dursley was short stack and was all in with K 7 off suit
It was agreed by the three remaining players to split the prize money so each would take away £100.
So the only thing left was who would become the first League Month End Final winner.
Out in 3rd place was Emma Masson with 4 2 off suit again to Richard Sheldon
In second place was Simon Ingus when his KQ off suit failed to hit and Richard Sheldon’s took the win.
Richard Sheldon not only takes the first ever win of the new league and £100 but the first ever poker winners bracelet. Our congratulations to Richard and we now look forward to our next final which will be held at The Brown Jug in Cheltenham on the 15th August 2009.
We offer a warm welcome to past and all future poker players who wish to join our league. Contact details of the committee members can be found on the General page of the forum.
