Club Chairman’s Report
It was my pleasure to award Rob Morris with his prize of £50 as this months League winner and Colin Ward this month’s best average prize of a customised poker T-shirt and may I say very well done to both of them.
Well the August month end final saw us at the Kings Head in Dursley, but on this occasion on Sunday and not the usual Saturday.
With the game clashing with the Red tooth final in Bristol it was great to welcome 31 players to the final. We sat down to do battle and a very steady and cautious start it was, whilst the early pots on my table were in fact quite big the chips ended up fairly even for some time. The inevitable happened and the first out was our very own Richard Sheldon a previous winner out to Nick Errington with both hitting two pairs but Nick’s higher pair winning the day.
It was some time before the next player was out and so it continued, then as the blinds increased so the players began to fall and when they started it was quite a quick process, we reached the final table shortly after 9pm with Colin Davidson out on the bubble in 9th he won a meal for two at the Kings Head.

The final table was made up of a real who’s who or is that a rouges gallery;

It wasn’t long before the first player had to make a move and with the blinds at 2 & 4K we found Rad and Brian in the pot with Rad calling the blind and Brian pushing all in for another 18K. Rad called with K-J against Brian’s A-10.
The flop Q J 6 – 4 - Q and Brian is out in 8th place

Next to fall was the prince of Poker Kris(Spider)Evans when Spider pushed all in with A-K and got called by Rob with K-J
The flop J 6 7- 7- 3 giving Rob two pair and Spider was out in 7th place

Next in the frame was Barry Owen when both he and Bob(ATC)Nutman both limped into the pot, Barry with 9-5 and Bob with 9-4
The flop came 2 4 9
Barry checked and Bob bet 12K, Barry pushed all in with an instant call from Bob.
The turn and river 8 - K didn’t help Barry and he was out in 6th place

Next out was Radovan Prokop when he pushed all in pre flop with K7 and got called by Bob Nutman with pocket 9’s
The flop came 3 2 9 – 3 - 10
Giving Bob a full house and Rad was out in 5th place

Jo Edwards in the big blind and little left to play with called a pre flop raise from Bob Nutman and when the cards were turned over Jo showed J 2 to Bob’s A K
And with the flop showing 4 K K – A - 3 Bob’s full house sent Jo out in 4th place

And the player to miss out on the heads up battle was Ron Poole when he called Bob Nutman’s pre flop all in.
Bob showed Q J and Rob A 7
The flop came 2 10 Q – 8 – 10 giving Bob two pairs and Rob was out in 3rd

Heads up didn’t last long as both Tats and Bob agreed to split the prize money and play out for the win the chips stacks at the start of heads up standing at;
Bob 295K
Tats 65K
After a few all in’s and Tats taking a chip advantage it soon came to the final hand:-
Tats had K 7 of Clubs
Bob had K 4 off suit
The flop came Ac Qd 2d – 9c – Kc giving Tats the nuts flush and his first Month end finals win so a very big congratulations to him on his victory and bragging rights and a well done to Bob for a good game.
I on behalf of the committee would like to thank all players for such a friendly and well played final and to Duncan from the Kings Head for his hospitality and I hope to see you all at the next final at the Gladiator.
