24 members qualified to play in this tournament but only the following 16 players took part in this first ‘Champions Final’

There was no ‘Bounty’ as in Monthly Finals and the tournament was on a ‘Winner-takes-all’ basis with 20,000 chip stacks. The total prize comprised a trophy which the winner will keep for a year plus an engraved glass pint tankard to be kept permanently and a total cash prize of £340. Players paid an entry fee of £10 with an additional £180 from club funds.

An early casualty from the final table was 8th Richard Sheldon followed by 7th Colin Brown 6th Colin Ward 5th Dish Patel 4th Steve Hancock and 3rd Dave Williams.
The final heads-up battle was between Dom Frasca v Rob Morris
After an entertaining contest during which the high stack changed hands several times Rob Morris (paired Aces) finally lost out to Dom’s Ace high straight.
